Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all young people within our care is the number one priority of Tri-Ball.

We recognise that we have a duty of care to children and young people and we are committed to promoting the safety and welfare of participants at all our activities.

We believe that:
Children and young people have a right to enjoy football, free from all forms of abuse and exploitation
All children and young people have equal rights to protection from harm
All children and young people should be encouraged to fulfil their potential and inequalities should be challenged.
Everybody has a responsibility to support the care and protection of children and young people.
Tri-Balls Commitment to Safeguarding

Tri-Ball work closely with County FAs and Active Partnerships as the local leads for safeguarding within sport. We implement the policies and procedures of The FA and the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) who are part of the NSPCC.

We aim to contribute to safeguarding children and young people by:

Applying the safeguarding principles and practices in the legislative documents ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018’ and the ‘Care Act 2014’
Influencing, advocating and promoting the importance of Safeguarding with participants, parents and our partners
Implementing and demonstrating best safeguarding practice when core staff and others working directly under the auspices of Tri-Ball are providing services, activities and programmes for children and young people
Working with The FA and local County FAs to establish and implement agreed, consistent minimum safeguarding standards for football activities locally
Requiring all individuals and/or organisations that are funded or commissioned by us to provide any services for children and young people to effectively address safeguarding requirements
We believe that as an organisation who actively delivers football provision for children and young people, it is important that we have an active safeguarding policy.

Tri-Balls Safeguarding Children Policy
Acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of every child and young person who has been entrusted to its care and is committed to working to provide a safe environment for all participants. A child or young person is anyone under the age of 18 engaged in any football activity. We subscribe to The FootballAssociation’s (The FA) Safeguarding Children Policy and Procedures and endorse and adopt the Policy Statement contained in that document.
The key principles of The FA Safeguarding Children Policy are that:
the child’s welfare is, and must always be, the paramount consideration
all children and young people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, faith or belief
all suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately
working in partnership with other organisations, children and young people and their parents/carers is essential
We acknowledge that every child or young person who plays or participates in football should be able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from poor practice and abuse. Tri-Ball recognises that this is the responsibility of every adult involved in our organisation.

Tri-Ball has a role to play in safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying. It is accepted that The FAs Safeguarding Children Regulations applies to everyone in football whether in a paid or voluntary capacity.
We endorse and adopt The FA’s Responsible Recruitment guidelines for recruiting volunteers and we will:
specify what the role is and what tasks it involves
request identification documents
as a minimum meet and chat with the applicant(s) and where
possible interview people before appointing them

ask for and follow up with 2 references before appointing
someone

where eligible require an FA accepted Enhanced Criminal
Record Check (CRC) with Barring List Check in line with current FA policy and regulations.

All current Tri-Ball staff members and volunteers working in eligible roles, with children and young people – such as coordinators, pitch supervisors and coaches are required to hold an in-date FA accepted Enhanced CRC with Barring List check as part of responsible recruitment practice.

Tri-Ball supports The FA’s Whistle Blowing Policy. Any adultor young person with concerns about an adult in a position of trust within football can ‘whistle-blow’ by contacting The FA
